Our Curriculum:

Each classroom follows a curriculum specially designed for that age group. Our curriculum is a combination of award-winning programs including High Reachand Frog Street Press. Children are exposed to math, science, reading, writing, and art through activities, games, and lessons that are designed for their developmental abilities.

In addition, we offer extra-curricular activities and events throughout the year including gymnastics, music, field trips and summer programs for all ages.

Infants

Infants begin coming to Better Beginnings as early as 6 weeks old, where our caregivers provide a secure and loving environment. We know how anxious new parents can be and we strive to give your baby the same quality of care as you would. Cuddling, feeding, and napping are provided according to each infants individual needs. Through daily communication, youll be kept informed of your babys activities and developmental progress. Our daily report includes:

  • Feeding, sleeping, and diapering schedule
  • Your babys mood
  • Special moments throughout the day

Your infant will build social skills, language skills, and motor skills. Our teachers encourage expressive communication through the use of the award winning "Sign with your Baby" series. By incorporating sign language into our classrooms, we can understand and meet the needs of infants and toddlers long before they develop the fine motor skills required for speech. More information about this program is available at www.sign2me.com. Once your infant learns to walk, he/she will transition to our toddler room, where new activities and peers of a similar ability level will encourage her continuing development.

Toddlers

Our teachers not only provide a loving and secure environment, but also help guide and direct your toddlers learning at his or her own pace. Toddlers learn how the world works by observing and interacting with objects and others around them. Better Beginnings provides your toddler with opportunities to take part in these activities, to pretend, to play alone or in a small group, to make choices, and to practice sharing and getting along with others. A toddlers strong sense of self is evident when she begins to say no. Our patient caregivers understand that toddlers are beginning to realize what is expected of them, although they may not always comply. Our teachers set clear and consistent limits for toddlers, use positive reinforcement, and redirection.

Twos/Threes

The innate curiosity of two and three year-olds makes introducing new concepts and encouraging learning easy. Our teachers stimulate this natural inquisitiveness through stories, songs, games, and art projects. Through planned activities and free play, your child will build essential verbal, physical, and social skills.

Preschool

Children this age are building a foundation for success in their upcoming elementary school years. Our curriculum not only provides the basics your child needs but allows your child to pursue his own interests.

Your childs daily schedule is designed to provide a balance of inside and outside activities, structured lessons, and fun experiences. Both teacher-directed and child-initiated opportunities to learn abound throughout the day. Our staff strives to reinforce your childs natural eagerness to learn.

School-age

At this age, children are beginning to develop their independence but still need a structured environment in which to grow. At Better Beginnings, your child can participate in fun activities under the supervision of trained caregivers. After a full day at school, your child can relax with a healthy snack. Then, based on parental preference, your child may focus on completing his homework, engage in creative play, or participate in games and activities on the playground.
